Canada Flag Background Tutorial
Step One: Creating Canada Flag Background
The trick here is top capture a clean area with minimal obstructions. Use the Cone Stamp Tool to remove imperfections, objects and/or unwanted shadows. If your background has strong vertical or horizontal lines, create guides and make everything look unified.
Step Two:Importing the flag pattern
Using Illustrator, outline the Canadian flag (leaf and side bars) to import back into Photoshop as a path.
Step Three: Simulating the new paint colour
Experiment with different colours but ultimately choose something in the brown range for this project. Once a colour is selected, outline the path and fill with your colour. Apply a colour burn to darken the background while intensifying the colour applied.
Once again, experiment with both colour and opacity until you find the right visual mix.
Step Four: Increase the Red
Personal choice. This is to make the flag look more red/white and not so old.
I choose to go just light enough to replace the purple/black in the wood with a heavier red shade.
Cheers + Happy Canada Day1!
